Before you choose the finishes

A renovation often starts with a finish you love: a slab of stone, a cabinet color, a tile. Before building the room around it, look at what you need the space to do. Where does the morning routine get crowded? What ends up on the counter because it has no place to go? Which room feels disconnected from the rest of the home?
Those observations give the design a useful starting point. In a kitchen, the position of storage can matter as much as its capacity. In a bathroom, the relationship between the vanity, mirror, and lighting affects how you use the room every day. Getting the layout right gives the finishes something solid to build on.
Then consider the materials together. Put the cabinet sample beside the counter, the floor, and the hardware. Look at them in the room’s daylight and evening light. A finish that seems right on its own may feel very different beside the others.
At VELUS INTERIORS, we begin by understanding how you live and what you want to change. The aim is a home where the choices feel connected, from the layout to the smallest detail.
