Meet The Owner
Mandy VeLUS
Mandy Velus was born in Guyana, a country known as much for its exceedingly rich culture as for its splendid natural beauty. As a child, she was strongly influenced by her father, a professional photographer, whose talent for capturing an objects’ essence and beauty made an indelible mark upon her. During these early years, Mandy developed an inclination to view spaces as “canvases” upon which a person’s unique style and taste should be “painted”.
Formally educated, Mandy matriculated from the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale where she obtained a B.A. degree in Interior Design and later from Syracuse University after earning a Certificate in Project Management.

VeLUS Interiors is the embodiment of Mandy’s affinity for art and architecture cultivated in her beloved Guyana. An established interior design company in Chicago, VeLUS Interiors curates spaces with a blend of classic and contemporary styles that are designed for comfort, style, and functionality.

A good design realizes the potential of any space. It involves considered choices coupled with a combination of wit and sense of elegance which ultimately capture a cohesive look that‘s both innovative and resolved.
As a designer, I have a strong understanding of how an interior comes together — from its structural framework to the fit and finish of a high-end final product. Like the perfect recipe, the thoughtful pairing of color and texture, material and finish, scale and placement results in the perfect dish — wholly presentable and satisfying to the most discerning and selective palates.
On a personal level, I have an immense appreciation for a variety of design periods and styles. Spaces work best when they tell the story of the people who inhabit them.
Though my initial experience was in new kitchen construction and bath design, I’ve been fortunate to work on exceptional projects which not only include new builds and residential refurbishments, but also key commercial and hospitality fit outs. This range of application and experience allows me to lend a fresh, unique, and holistic vision to my clients’ design needs.
